First road trip

It's off to the beach for the Roper and Newton clans.  Last year, Brett, Dave, Nomin and I drove to Cape Hatteras on the lower portion of the Outter Banks for a long weekend just before Memorial Day. At the time, both Nomin and I were pregnant, but we decided to rough it and we psuedo-camped. This year, with infants in tow, we decided to book a beach house instead. Our house is in Corolla (upper part of the Outter Banks) and we invited family and friends to join us.

We left Zoe at home to be cared for by our animal-loving neighbor (who is studying to be a vet). We brought Woody with us (I'm still trying to get him to be a water dog).

We packed up the truck the night before and filled it to the brim with beach gear, Woodys stuff, cornhole, and, for the first time, baby gear (which ended up taking up most of the space).

We woke up at 7am on Saturday, finished packing up the truck, showered, watered the sod, fed the animals, fed the baby and made our way to McDonald's for our standard pre-roadtrip breakfast.  We were on the road a half hour ahead of schedule!

We have made it past Fredericksburg without hitting traffic (knock on Woody) and Little Will is asleep in the back. Good start so far!

We are thinking of stopping near Williamsburg to feed and diaper the babe, walk Woody, have a snack, and  stretch our legs.  Seeing lots of other beach goers on the road.

This 6 hour roadtrip to the beach is a practice run for the 13 hour drive we are taking to Maine in August.
