Just got back from Darcy’s Bachelorette Weekend in New York
City. It was a whirl-wind trip but we tried
to jam-pack our time there full of fun events that the bride-to-be would
enjoy. With the help of the bridesmaids
and a few other key players with lots of NYC inside intel, we planned a trip
that will definitely go down in the memory books. Some of the northern Virginia girls met at my
house on Friday morning to pack up the car.
We scooped up Darcy and hit the road.
We gave her the rundown of the weekends events which included dinner out
at a Latin/Asian small plate restaurant on Friday at dinnertime, table/bottle
service at a rooftop hotel bar on Friday evening, a Saturday matinee show of
on Broadway, a little light shopping, ordering
Saturday dinner into the hotel room at various NYC staples while pregaming, an
80’s coverband show on Saturday evening, and brunch on Sunday morning. Whew! I
probably should have baked in a little more down time because all of us were
run ragged by the end of the weekend. I
think Darcy had a good time and there are pictures to prove it. The Latin/Asian place we went to was called
Dohyo – I think it has something to do with sumo-wrestling. The pitchers of sake sangria went down like
water and some of the favorite dishes were the pork belly ramen noodles, black
cod, Chinese eggplant, pork spare ribs, and the churros.
Then it was off to the rooftop hotel at the
Empire Hotel. We killed two bottles of
Grey Goose and danced our booties off until the wee hours of the morning.
It was back to the hotel to sleep it off – thankfully
we packed a TON of snacks, water, eye masks, etc to help recover from the night’s
festivities. We were up and getting
ready for the Broadway show. PriscillaQueen of the Desert was very fun and perfect for a group of all girls. It was about drag queens in Australia and my
favorite parts were the ping-pong lady, the Asian tourists, and most of the
Madonna numbers. There were some
touching parts and A LOT of gay humor and one-liners. You don’t need strippers for this
bachelorette party because there were tons of half-naked (albeit gay) males
prancing around in skimpy speedos on stage.
Then we went to Forever 21 to get some staples
for our 80’s outfits for Darcy and some of the other girls. I was absolutely amazed by how much 80’s
stuff they had in these stores. Just
goes to show you that what goes around comes around – maybe I should have saved
all my 80’s gear.. I would be so stylish!
Then it was back to the hotel to start getting ready for the night. We all changed into our 80’s gear and dressed
Darcy up in a fantastic outfit and chowed down on some greasy pizza, pasta, and
Mexican food from several take-out places.
I think the hotel staff thought we were the biggest group of pigs
because by the time the 3rd delivery guy asked to deliver food up to
our room – they started getting worried “you have ANOTHER delivery guy here”.
Hahaha! We played some more rounds of
Mad-libs – all hilarious of course and grabbed some cabs to head to watch Rubix Kube's Back to
the 80’s show at the Canal Room. We had
our bachelorette dare cards in full effect and we ponied up to the front of the
stage to get the best view. Darcy got
pulled up on stage to sing with the band (YAY!) and we stayed late enough to
shut the place down.
We went back to the
hotel afterwards to nosh on some food and sleep off yet another great and
successful night. Up early the next morning
to clean the disaster area that was our hotel suite. Then we went to brunch at
Rue 57 (pretty yummy – I had the French onion soup). We picked up the car and hit the road back to
Virginia and our normal lives. Will try
to post some of the pictures once they are uploaded. All in all – weekend was a success J I <3 Darcy and I <3 NYC
